Prestigious award for CD of Frank Martin Opera Der Sturm
Frank Martin's opera Der Sturm has won the International Classical Music Awards 2012 in the category Opera.
The international jury has chosen this first integral recording on CD of Der Sturm as recording of the year. The work is performed by Robert Holl, Christine Buffle, Ethan Herschenfeld, James Gilchrist, and others, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Netherlands Radio Choir, conducted by Thierry Fischer (Hyperion, CDA67821/3).
The award ceremony with gala concert will be held on 15 May 2012 at La Cité in Nantes (F). The concert, on which several award winners will perform, will be broadcasted live by France Musique, Radio MDR (Germany), Radio Orpheus (Russia) and numerous other EBU radio stations.
