Frank Martin composed the ballet music Die blaue Blume in 1936 for a competition organised by the choreographer Pino Mlakar. Deemed too avant-garde, the work was shelved and forgotten for almost a century.
The spectacular world première of Die blaue Blume, orchestrated by Nicolas Bolens, took place in October 2024 in Geneva, conducted by Thierry Fischer and in collaboration with Compagnie Käfig and choreographer Mourad Merzouki. Now , this energetic company joins forces with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), of which Thierry Fischer is Music Director and Principal Conductor.
