Caroline Charriere Flowers, for mixed choir
Whitehall Choir is excited to present the stunning Mass for double choir by the Swiss composer Frank Martin, marking 50 years since the composer’s death. With its sumptuous harmonies, influence of medieval chant and characterful word painting this work is a popular one amongst choral music lovers. Alongside it we will perform other beautiful music from Switzerland and Liechtenstein including Rheinberger’s much loved Abendlied as well as his Stabat Mater in g minor. Finally we feature two short choral pieces by Swiss composers. Flowers by Caroline Charriere was written in 2008 and is a beautiful and calm setting of words by Emily Dickinson. Ivo Antognini’s Canticum Novum written in 2017 is very lively and hugely uplifting.
